hmad|architects created a contemporary and vibrant sacred space for St Peter's Church, Plymouth, in this project which involved the extensive reordering and internal renovations of the Grade II listed church. 

 

Our role included extensive community and stakeholder consultation, assisting with Heritage and Lottery Funding applications and obtaining faculty approval from the Diocesan Advisory Committee.

 

The project completely refurbished the building, allowing full accessibility and included new sanitary facilities, heating and lighting. Our design utilised symbolic elements such as moving water to enhance transitions between the sacred and the secular. The worship area is encircled by a continuous shallow channel of water flowing into a cruciform full-immersion baptismal which marks the threshold.
