central london office
hmad|architects were appointed to carry out an extensive three-phase project for The Methodist Church's Central London Headquarters, which involved regulatory and remediation works, asbestos removal works and enhancement works to staff and visitor facilities.
The first phase (regulatory and remediation works) entailed a review of the 2012 QQI report, fire risk assessment, fire door survey, compartmentation and energy and sustainability review in order to identify and prioritise urgent building work. We led a multidisciplinary design team closely in order to ensure the required standard of technical performance was achieved.
The second phase (asbestos removal works) entailed the safe management of asbestos identified within three separate vertical service risers where the first phase of works was planned whilst the building was still in use. Our role was as the Project Lead, coordinating information between the client, asbestos consultant, design team and the main contractor.
The final and third phase (enhancement works to staff and visitor facilities) entailed the improvement of staff facilities, updating of meeting rooms and provision of a more welcoming entrance with improved signage. Staff and client feedback has been very positive for the enhancements carried out.
The Methodist Church "have valued the way in which" hmad|architects has "worked with the Project Board and the staff at Methodist Church House in trying to pursue this difficult and complex contract to a successful conclusion."
