Biomass boiler house

This intriguing project required a detached biomass boiler house and fuel store to serve a stunning Grade II listed house in Devon.

Set in a prominent position in the grounds of the house, our design was for a contemporary counterpoint to create an interesting focal point.

Our design has an industrial aesthetic which we created using corten steel cladding, concrete and reclaimed brickwork to wrap the new building. Scroll through the images to see what the corten steel cladding looked like when first constructed.

hmad|architects were commissioned to design the building, submit the relevant planning, listed building and conservation area applications, prepare all construction information and submit for building regulations approval.

This was an environmentally focused project, with the biomass boiler achieving significant reductions in Co2 over fossil fuels estimated by the Client to be 10 tonnes of Co2 per year.
