Project Name: St. Peter's Church, Plymouth
The remodelled worship area is surrounded by water flowing from the Legilium - the source of the Word - into a baptismal pool beyond. Crossing water has always been symbolically associated with transitions between the sacred and the secular. The use of simple materials in a contemporary way provides a unique setting for worship and community in the 21st century. Division of spaces is made only by clear glass, allowing a deliberate collision - and coming together - of the diverse uses.
